Deezer Buys Stitcher , Online Podcast and Radio Services

The French Deezer, competition from Spotify, Rdio and other music streaming services, continues to grow. After entering the US, a mandatory step after another success in South America, has purchased Stitcher, an aggregator of podcasts was born in San Francisco and now has 35,000 radio and quite varied podcasts, including eight of the Top 10 country radio. Its content reaches over 12,000 providers including NPR, BBC, Fox News, Wall Street Journal, This American Life, Marc Maron and CBS Radio News, as discussed in TC .

The aim is to include the huge content Stitcher within its platform, offering more than just music: topical content, excellent hook to get users to change the current US spotify and rdio for this new proposal.
22 employees will join Stitcher Deezer, including the co-founder and CTO Peter DEVROEDE, which becomes the new vice president of engineering service Deezer to offer Stitcher content.
While Stitcher has only 1 million monthly active users, with about 85% of them in the US, Deezer has 16 million users in 180 countries total, 5 million of whom pay for premium services.

An interesting step to add varied content, always related to the online audio course.
