Attention: New vulnerability in Microsoft PowerPoint can leave your PC

Attention users of PowerPoint and / or generally those presentations in your mail and open even as an unknown sender: Dan notice in the Microsoft Security Center and TechCrunch found a new vulnerability in Microsoft PowerPoint (with the reference 3010060) that enables the implementation of code remotely, meaning that someone with sufficient knowledge could exploit some malware injecting a conventional presentation that would give full access to Windows of whom displayed.
They speak in the security advisory that the vulnerability affects all versions of Windows except Windows Server 2003, though, only talk about the versions that still have official support (Vista / 7/8 / 8.1 / RT / Server / ) but it is inferred that versions like Windows XP also be exposed. It was also mentioned that so far have not received reports of widespread attacks has barely known attacks targeting limited public.
Well, there are several things you can do immediately to stay protected while a complete solution appears. There are three specific ideas recommended: Maximize the permissions on the "Configuring User Account Control" ( User Account Control ) so that it is more difficult to enforce without administrative permissions and make visible if it happens, download and install the temporary patch released by Microsoft (click on the first icon Microsoft FixIt ) and, as in the first paragraph, act wisely against new submissions received and close to visualize, especially if they come from strangers.
The remainder is to always maintain a reliable and updated antivirus system. Finally, a small bump that although opaque dated 21 October-the "good vibes" in the environment following the presentation of the financial results of the company .
